Start an Entertainment Business

An entertainment business is a terrific venture, whether you plan on offering party music, children's parties, weddings or any other entertainment genre. They can be tough to get off the ground without a lot of contacts or prior recognition, but once you build a reputation it's possible to have a longstanding lucrative business for years. If you start small and persevere you can have a great entertainment business of your own.

Step1...
Specialize your entertainment business when you first start. For example, if you want your business to be centered on music for parties and gatherings, then simply start as a DJ before you begin to offer live music. If you want to do children's parties, start out with face painting and balloon animals before buying bounce castles or cotton candy machines.
Step2....
ncorporate your business. The process for incorporation varies slightly by state, but you'll have to contact your state's state department to find the forms needed for incorporation.
Step3....
Buy the equipment you need in order to conduct business. With a business license you're often entitled to discounts on many products you'd need, like office equipment (computers, fax machines and telephones, for example).
Step4....
Generate some advertising. You can do this by setting up a website, generating business cards, taking out advertisements in your local newspaper, and even simple word-of-mouth can help. You should also post advertising in online classified ad sites like Craigslist (see Resources below).
Step5....
Hire additional employees. This could mean other DJs, or this could mean someone to help in the office. Determine what kind of help you need to keep your business running smoothly, and take on staff as you can comfortably afford it.
